Clinicians have used role playing for decades as a way to help people rehearse interpersonal interactions and coping strategies. When moderated by professionals, games like Dungeons and Dragons can serve the same function, without feeling like therapy for the participant.
During the games, the players will have to think about how someone would act based on their character type, while mimicking the behaviors and words of their own character. The players will be challenged to use listening skills, patience, turn-taking, flexibility, teamwork, critical thinking, consequences, empathy, and communication as they work through challenges as a team. Players will engage in a team-based structure that allows them to use their own character’s unique abilities to collaboratively solve complex problems and devise strategy.

Pandemic is a cooperative board game in which players work as a team to treat infections around the world while gathering resources for cures. As skilled members of a disease-fighting team, you and the other players work together to keep the world safe from outbreaks and epidemics. Only through teamwork will you have a chance to find a cure!
If your kiddo plays Roblox, this might be the group for them! We will be playing in a private server where our facilitator can closely guide the players through major thinking skills like focus, flexibility, and planning.
The wide-ranging opportunities for gameplay make Roblox great for practicing executive functioning skills such as planning, flexibility, organization, and self-awareness. The fun and creativity that comes with Roblox also make it a wonderful opportunity for kids to challenge themselves and get better at thinking and focusing. We help them become aware of their own learning, encourage collaboration and self-control, and build cognitive and social skills for the real world.
